We were able to welcome the Spring season with a pond walk where we looked for signs of Spring. We saw a woodpecker, some animal fur, budding plants and a few wisps of green grass poking out from under the snow. 


Today is World Down Syndrome Day, Tuesday, March 21, 2023. March is the 3rd month, representing 3 copies of chromosome 21 or the 21st day! To celebrate this day we photographed students wearing colourful and creative socks! Our grade 5 buddies have been working on taking on a leadership role in showing kindness in our building and this will provide us with another opportunity to talk about the importance of acting with kindness, being inclusive and raising awareness about our individual differences.

 Today we finished our models of the human ear! They look fantastic. Ask your child to explain how the ear works using the model they bring home today. We had a spelling quiz that covered many of the words we have been familiarizing ourselves with over the last few weeks, either through curricular activities, word work, or the word of the day. Some students spelled all ten words correctly, but many need more practice. If you're a fan of spelling homework, give these words a shot: should, volume, friend, quiet, said, because, write, could, sound, went. Enjoy the sunshine!

Dear Threehouse! O ver the next two weeks, your child will be learning how to create and solve division problems that involve either equal sharing or equal grouping. Your child will use various strategies, such as multiplication, repeated subtraction, and a number line, to solve division problems. To reinforce the concepts your child is learning at school, you and your child can work on some at-home activities such as these: • Use any type of food such as baked goodies or pizza to have your child figure out how to equally share pieces among a certain number of people. • Have your child determine how many pieces to create from a pan of brownies or cake to feed the family the same serving size, such as 2 or 3 pieces. • With your child, practise using common objects or situations at home to show both equal sharing and equal grouping.
